Aloha! First, thank you for your continued support of the J2CR paddles. We sincerely appreciate the trust you place in Honolulu Pickleball Company.
We would like to share an important update regarding our surface technology.
PLEASE DISREGARD IF YOU DID NOT ORDER A J2CR PADDLE.
We have released a new upgraded surface technology — Crystal Blue Endurance Surface™ — engineered for significantly improved long-term texture durability and more consistent friction performance.
This surface builds on decades of precision texture development experience, including 20+ years working with mechanically interlocked abrasive surface systems in demanding firearms industry applications, where durability and controlled friction are critical.
That same engineering philosophy has now been applied to pickleball. Rather than holding this improvement for a future model cycle, we are bringing it to market immediately.
We are currently pursuing dual certification with:
- USA Pickleball (USAP)
- UPA-A
USAP enforces a defined surface roughness limit measured with calibrated instrumentation.
At present, the Crystal Blue Endurance texture measures approximately 20–30% above current USAP roughness guidelines, which means there is a possibility it may not pass USAP approval in its current configuration.
UPA-A uses performance-based standards (including spin and other metrics), and we believe we have a strong path toward approval there.
Important Notes:
- Your current Peel-Ply J2CR remains the most conservative option for unrestricted USAP-sanctioned play —USAP approved
- The Crystal Blue Endurance version is submitting for approval, but certification is not yet finalized — pending for approval
If you have already received your paddle or currently have an open pre-order, we will do our best to accommodate all requests within production limits.
